35 Years: Changing young lives

Party for The Prince’s Trust

Help us celebrate The Prince’s Trust 35th birthday by holding your very own retro celebration party.

The Prince’s Trust started in 1976 and looking back over the 35 years there have been some fascinating decades.  Pick your favorite decade from the 70's, 80's or 90's and hold a themed fundraiser.

Party Ideas

Old school

  • School in the 1980’s - Excite your pupils by asking them to dress up in 80’s clothes and learn about 1980’s news, and hold a themed quiz
  • End of term - Why not hold a dress down day, themed around the 70’s?
  • Sponsor a teacher - Ask your teacher to dress in retro clothing for the day

Party in your community

  • Disco - Bring together the local community and hold a 70’s, 80’s or 90’s disco. Play music from your chosen decade, ask guests to come in fancy dress.
  • Pub quiz - Ask questions from each decade. Contestants could be asked to dress up for extra points!
  • Sports clubs and gyms - Hold a fun retro fancy dress sports match or tournament. Don wigs and dress in retro 70’s sports gear. If you are a member of a gym, ask your gym instructor to put on a special 90’s gym class, think neon lycra, leg warmers and pumping music!

Friends and family

  • House Party - Turn back time in your home and invite friends and family to a retro fancy dress party.  Theme your music, food and entertainment around your favorite decade.
  • Dinner Party - Host a retro dining experience, ask guests to dress for the occasion, and theme food and decor around your chosen decade

Office party

  • Dress down day – Dress in 70’s, 80’s or 90’s gear and charge £1 for the privilege.
  • Retro Cake sale - You could add retro sweets on top of homemade cakes, or be imaginative with retro cake fillings or cake shapes.
  • Work like its 1976 - Sponsor a colleague to work without gadgets, computer and all the other equipment that we rely on today.
