Celebrity golf at The Grove
Andy Cole recruited a celebrity golf dream
team to raise funds for The Prince's Trust.
“Britain’s youth needs our
help now more than ever”, says ex-England striker Andy Cole,
“as a Prince’s Trust ambassador I decided to get a few celebrity
friends together to raise funds to help change young lives through
sport”.
Cole, England’s second highest goal scorer in Premier League
history, raised a huge sum for The Prince's
Trust by recruiting sporting friends including Jamie Rednapp,
Kevin Keegan, Dwight Yorke, Les Ferdinand, Jimmy Bullard and Kenny
Logan to take part in a celebrity golf tournament.
Andrew Cole's team came third beaten by a team from the
Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) who won the tournament
and Chris Hollins' team who took second place.
My footballing skills were discovered by a
major football club when I was just 16 and my career lasted for 19
years, but what happens to those kids whose talent remains
undiscovered? I want to help The Trust reach out to a generation
whose talents and prospects have been dashed in the
recession.

The Andrew Cole Golf Classic
tournament took place at the renowned Grove golf course on
Wednesday the 26th of May. Teams consisted of four
players, one of which was a celebrity. Each team received a table
of 10 for dinner and overnight accommodation in The Grove’s
luxurious West Wing.
Martina Milburn, Chief Executive of The Prince’s Trust comments:
“We are thrilled to have the support of ambassadors like Andrew.
The money raised will allow us to make massive changes to the lives
of thousands of young people during a very difficult time.”
