Reading FC fundraise to change young lives through
football
The Reading FC Community Trust have once again
teamed up with The Princes Trust, by hosting a football fundraiser
at Madejski Stadium's training dome.
The Prince's Trust Team programme is a 12 week personal
development programme for young people aged 16-25, which is run
by the Reading FC Community Trust throughout the
year.
It is delivered in partnership with Connexions, and over
the 12 weeks, participants learn skills including problem solving,
fundraising and a team challenge. They also gain a recognised
qualification in personal development and contributing to the
community.
Those taking part in the scheme are required to take part in a
community project. The group currently taking part in the Team
programme at Reading FC have chose to help redevelop the
Fairview Youth Centre.
In an effort to raise funds eight teams were invited down to the
dome for a small sided tournament, which saw sides from a number of
corporate partners of Reading FC take part.
Barclays Bank took the title thanks to a final win over Guinness
and Malt, and the winners kindly agreed to match any money already
raised on the day.
Prince's Trust Team Leader Dane Kirby said:
I am delighted with all the support and money
raised on the day and would like to say a massive thank you to
everyone who donated money and was involved in the tournament, in
particular Barclays Bank for their continuous support of the team
programme.
