Alexandra Burke stars at The Prince's Trust Diamond
Ball
Former X Factor winner and guest judge Alexandra Burke
dazzled audiences at the annual Diamond Ball in
Liverpool, helping to raise £50,000.
Alexandra who has had hits including ‘Bad Girls’ and
‘Hallelujah’ put on an exclusive performance for hundreds of guests
at the beautiful St George’s Hall. The event was a great success
and raised £50,000 to help disadvantaged young people in the North
West get into work, training or education.
Alexandra said:
It was great to be playing in Liverpool as the
people are always so friendly and supportive. The Prince’s Trust is
a great cause and does fantastic work with young people across the
region. I feel honoured to be able to help in some
way.
The Diamond Ball, which is considered by many to be the
highlight of Liverpool’s Christmas social calendar, returned to St
George’s Hall for the eighth year running. Since it started the
event has raised over £400,000 for The Prince’s Trust in the North
West. The prestigious black tie event included a Laurent-Perrier
Champagne reception, followed by a festive four course meal and the
opportunity to win fantastic prizes in the raffle and auction. The
raffle was drawn by Jennie McAlpine who plays Fizz in Coronation
Street.
North West Development Committee member of The Prince’s Trust
and founder of The Diamond Ball, Steve Sealey, said:
I would like to thank Alexandra Burke for
singing at tonight’s event and everyone who made the evening
possible. The Prince’s Trust can make a real difference to young
people’s lives and the money we’ve raised tonight will go some way
to getting more young people into work.
Guests also had the chance to win a £10,000 diamond generously
donated by exclusive jewellers and long term sponsors of The
Diamond Ball, David M Robinson.
An auction on the evening offered guests the opportunity to bid
for an array of exclusive prizes including tickets to the final of
The X Factor.
