HRH Prince of Wales visits Wales

A group of young people from the Newport area were delighted when they met His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales when he visited the work of three of his charities in Wales.

The programme is designed to help young unemployed people in the area gain vital job-seeking skills. During the course, the eight young people gained qualifications in rugby coaching and first aid, as well as confidence and motivation.

At the event, which took place at Pillgwenlly Millennium Centre in Newport, the young people had the opportunity to talk to The Prince about their experiences.

Mark Boswell, 22, from Newport, said,

It was great to meet The Prince. I really enjoyed the Get Started with Rugby programme. I learned lots of new skills and it really boosted my confidence. I have done a little coaching already and now I would love to do rugby coaching for a living. I’m so glad I did it.

The Prince’s Trust supports 3600 young people in Wales each year through its programmes like Get Started which are short courses which engage and develop young people through sport or the arts and support them into further education, training or employment. The charity helps change young lives, supporting young people into jobs, education or training.

More than three in four young people on Prince’s Trust schemes move into work, education or training.
