Birmingham City player meets Prince’s Trust
youngsters
Birmingham City player David Murphy met
unemployed young people on a Prince’s Trust course on Wednesday
21st April.
The defender met the
youngsters at the City’s ground where the young people held a
questions and answers session with the player.
All of the young people are currently on The Prince’s Trust Team
programme, a 12-week development course, which is run by Solihull
College.
The youngsters have renovated an old nursery which they have
converted to be used as offices for voluntary organisations in the
area.
Team member and Blues fan Marc James, 19, of Sheldon said: “It
was great to meet David Murphy. I am really enjoying the Team
programme – it has given me so much confidence. I now have the
confidence to speak in front of large groups of people and I could
not do this before.”
Fellow Team member Lewis Szilvasi, 18, of Damson Wood, Solihull
said: “Even though I am a Villa fan I still really enjoyed meeting
David Murphy.”
HRH The Prince of Wales launched The Prince's Trust Football
Initiative at Old Trafford in August 1997. Young people have
benefited from the support of over 60 football clubs through a
long-term partnership with the Premier League, PFA and Football
Foundation.
The Team programme is based on individual and team challenges in
the community and is designed to help improve job prospects for
young people through team building activities, a week-long
residential trip, a community project and a two-week work
experience placement.
