First West Midlands Palace to Palace bike ride announced
The Prince's Trust has announced that
its largest mass participation event, which sees thousands of
well-wishers cycling 45 miles raising funds to help disadvantaged
young people, will be coming to the West Midlands for the first
time.
The event, which is supported by Allianz, will see
1,000 cyclists riding 45 miles through the Warwickshire countryside
on Sunday 20th May 2012, raising vital funds for The Prince's
Trust.
Participants, including Prince's Trust ambassador Dion Dublin,
will embark on a stunning 45 mile route, starting at Warwick
Castle, through the beautiful old villages of the Warwickshire
countryside and alongside Kenilworth Castle. After 45 miles
cyclists will cross the finish line onto the Pageant Field at
Warwick Castle where they will be met by friends and family.
Paul Beesley, Prince's Trust regional director for the West
Midlands, said:
Palace to Palace is aimed at cyclists of all
abilities who want to take part in a challenging but fun event
where they get to cycle through beautiful locations. People can
take part individually, or in larger groups, and all money raised
will support The Prince's Trust in helping to change young lives
here in the West Midlands.
Chris Hanks, general manager at Allianz, said:
Allianz is delighted to be supporting The
Prince's Trust Palace to Palace at Warwick Castle. I encourage as
many people as possible to get involved, in what promises to be a
very exciting day, whilst at the same time raising money to help
vulnerable young people.
The
Palace to Palace bike ride from
Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle has raised more than £1.2
million for The Trust over the last six years.
Cyclists are asked to pay a £35 registration fee and aim to
raise at least £45 sponsorship money – that’s just £1 a mile.
Family and friends of participants will be offered a discounted
entrance fee to Warwick Castle on the day so that they can enjoy
the activities and surroundings.
