Senior Management Team

The Senior Management Team is responsible for the leadership, strategy and priorities of the organisation, for the delivery of the Business Plan and Budget, and for the overall day to day running of The Trust.

Martina Milburn

Chief Executive

Martina joined The Trust in May 2004, after having been Chief Executive of the BBC Children in Need Appeal since 2000. Overseeing nine regional offices, she was a director of the trading subsidiary Children in Need Ltd and was a member of the BBC's Corporate Social Responsibility Board. Martina trained and began her career as a journalist, established the Press and Communications function for the Catholic Fund for Overseas Development (CAFOD) and worked on a freelance basis for a range of charities. She then held the post of Chief Executive of the Association of Spinal Injury Research, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (ASPIRE) - a service delivery charity - for seven years, growing the staff from five to 100. In this role Martina was responsible for the development of Europe's first integrated arts, sports and rehabilitation centre.

Michael Mercieca

Director, Finance & Operations

Michael joined the Prince’s Trust in June 2003 as Finance Director. He is now responsible for Finance, Operations & Resources across the Trust. Michael comes from a media background and has worked for BBC Worldwide, BSkyB and advised companies such as NTL, Telewest, The Co-operative Bank and Yellow Pages through his own consultancy company, Media Gap.

Nicola Brentnall

Secretary to The Prince's Trust

Before joining us, Nicola was the Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive of West London Training and Enterprise Council. At The Trust, she's responsible for governance matters and for the administration of The Prince's Trust Council and the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Trust.

Ginny Lunn

Director of Policy and Development

Ginny started her career as a teacher in Leeds then moved to Dublin to be involved in ‘Youth Reach’, a new initiative for young people excluded from school. There she developed new programmes and qualifications for young people to re-engage, motivate and develop their skills, including European youth leadership and peer education programmes. She joined the Prince’s Trust in 1999 initially as Project Manager for ‘Breaking Barriers’ and went on to manage and develop programmes (Live, Europe and Awards) before becoming head of Policy and Development in 2003. In 2007 she was appointed Director of Policy and Development.

Jacob Tas

Director, England

Jacob is responsible for the smooth running of all the operations in the nine regions of England. This ranges from generating income through fundraising to ensuring quality delivery of Prince’s Trust programmes. In addition he is responsible for all aspects of volunteering within The Prince’s Trust nationwide. Jacob joined The Trust at the beginning of 2007 from Royal P&O Nedlloyd where he was a member of the Executive Management team as global HR&D Director before taking on the role of global Operations Director. Jacob holds a Masters degree in Applied Econometrics from the University of Amsterdam and completed the Advanced Management Programme at Oxford University. He has worked as an active volunteer with Amnesty International in Taiwan, the Netherlands and the UK. Jacob is Chair of Trustees of the St. Paul’s Steiner School in Islington, sits on the board of a large Dutch Pension fund and is founding member of the Centre for Narrative Leadership.

Steve Wiggins

Director of Human Resources

Steve joined The Trust from Sue Ryder Care, where he had been HR Director for three and a half years. Before Sue Ryder, Steve was at Barclays, where he undertook a number of senior HR jobs, including Head of HR for Barclays Business Banking and HR Director for Barclays Corporate Banking. He has extensive experience in the development of HR strategy, change management, diversity, leadership and management development.

Paul Brown

Director of Marketing and Communications

The strength of The Prince's Trust brand makes us a positive choice for our young clients, supporters and partners alike. Paul leads The Trust's marketing and communications team who are dedicated to the task of spreading our message to the widest possible audience while building long term value in the brand. Paul joined The Trust in 2002, became head of marketing in 2005 and joined the senior management team in 2007. Previously, Paul managed marketing campaigns for a range of sports, arts and leisure venues. From 1996 to 2002 he was head of marketing at Arts & Business - a charity which, like The Trust, has HRH The Prince of Wales as its President.

Julian Barrell

Director of Fundraising

Julian joined The Prince’s Trust in 1999 and has held a number of fundraising roles including corporate and major donor development. Since 2002 Julian has led on the creation of The Trust’s successful Leadership Group concept and a number of other new fundraising initiatives including the Invest in Futures gala dinner. Prior to joining The Prince’s Trust, Julian worked in fundraising at the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
