Recognising a common purpose to help communities, Balfour Beatty
helped The Trust to found our Construction and Business Services
Leadership Group (CBSLG) in 2006, and has been a dedicated
supporter of the Get into Construction programme since Balfour
Beatty not only makes a vital financial commitment to this
programme but also provide top quality work placements for these
young people, utilising the skills and dedication of their
employees to mentor the work placements for the best introduction
to working in the industry.
Charity of the Year 2009– Community Cash Awards
Balfour Beatty strongly believes in enhancing the social
environment of the many communities in which they work. They
demonstrate a genuine desire to inspire their employees to use
their skills to help young people through volunteering, whilst also
investing funding across three different programmes. This was never
more apparent when celebrating their centenary in 2009.
To celebrate 100 years of successful business Balfour Beatty
launched a new charitable trust Building Better
Futures, becoming a Silver Patron.
They targeted this support to Community Cash Awards with their
employees taking this programme to heart. Following an emotive
communications campaign, employees nationally took up the gauntlet
and raised an amazing £175 000.
Charity of the Year 2010 – Development Awards
Balfour Beatty have once again announced The Prince's Trust as
their charity of the year in 2010. Unemployment in the UK has risen
to its highest level in 14 years. Development Awards directly
target youth unemployment, effectively helping young people to
overcome the barrier holding them back. Like Communication Cash
Awards, Development Awards are a simple, highly effective
grassroots solution. These small financial grants can have a huge
impact on young people living in the communities in which Balfour
Beatty employees are based ensuring that together we are working to
change young lives right across the UK.
