RBS 6 Nations and The Prince's TrustThe Rugby Initiative

Almost 1,000 young people have been helped by RBS 6 Nations and The Prince’s Trust joint initiative since 2004. The scheme targets 14 to 16 year olds who are struggling at school.

The Prince’s Trust xl club aims to improve pupils attendance, self-esteem, confidence, motivation and social skills. Rugby helps to build these skills which are also needed in the world of work and further education.

As part of the initiative young people take part in multiple tag rugby sessions, are given access to players and educational materials as well as coaching from union staff on nutrition and healthy lifestyles.

For every young person that we help get back into education, employment and training, we are also contributing to regenerating communities in so many ways. We are delighted that together we are able to reach out to excluded young people and engage them through the power of rugby.       - Allan Watt, Head of Group Brand Communications at The Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
