Uniting for young people

Here volunteers can find out about aspects of the integration process and how it will impact on them.

Overview

The Fairbridge programme is now an integral part of The Prince’s Trust - combining forces to maximise support for disadvantaged young people.

Both Fairbridge and The Prince’s Trust have a volunteer base that is committed and passionate about working with young people.

The integration is an opportunity to further develop our volunteering structure and opportunities.

Key Updates

  • What has happened so far? Two of the UK's leading youth organisations - The Prince's Trust and Fairbridge – have joined forces to form one organisation. On April 1st, the formal merger took place and Fairbridge is now part of The Prince's Trust.
  • What impact is the integration having on the young people that we support? The joint organisation will now support around 50,000 young people this year.
  • What does this mean locally for our current volunteers? There will be no significant changes to delivery at a local level. We will keep you informed of any changes.
  • How can volunteers get involved?  We are all key to the success of the future of the combined organisation. Most importantly, volunteers can help to create this success by continuing to provide their invaluable support.  We will also ensure we consult with volunteers wherever possible. To date we have involved volunteers in our 'United Identity' consultation and asked key volunteers to feed into our Strategy Development for 2012/15. Further details on these will be communicated in the new year.
  • How can I ask question and raise issues relating to this work stream? If you have any questions/feedback/comments please contact Laura Read or Ant Metcalfe
  • There will also be further opportunities for volunteers to provide their inout and feedback regarding the integration process. We will request this support as required.

Latest updates

  • The corporate services team has been working hard to deliver cost savings, making a major contribution to achieving one of the driving goals of the integration: to create operational efficiencies.
  • As a £50m charity supporting 50,000 young people this year, The Trust needs to raise £1 million a week. On 23rd November, thanks to teamwork across the organisation, we collected this staggering amount in just a day.
  • Celebrate Success finals have been taking place across the regions and countries, providing us with great occasions to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our young people.
