Bill McAvoy

Bill joined The Prince’s Trust as a volunteer Business Mentor in Northern Ireland having been involved in supporting the business start up programme through his employer.

Bill started volunteering in 1999 but his motivation dates back further; growing up during and after the war, Bill’s parents worked hard to give him a good start in life. Keen to make a difference of his own, he has been providing mentoring support to young people for over a decade, helping them realise their business ideas.

Bill recalls there have been lots of good days, great memories and some frustrations. However, his highlights are always seeing his advice have positive results or simply creating a strong working relationship with the mentee.

Bill has gone on to encourage others to volunteer, with great success.

I know that anyone I have ever encouraged to volunteer has never regretted
