Maggie Thorne

Maggie has supported young people across Prince’s Trust programmes during her five years as a volunteer, providing business mentor support, awarding development grants and delivering the Explore Enterprise programme.

Maggie ThorneAs a young person Maggie always had a passion for sport, never considering herself as being particularly 'academic'. However, encouraged by a supportive colleague, Maggie’s career quickly took off and she worked her way into management roles within the food industry.

Having someone to believe in her during her career made a huge difference to Maggie and she decided she wanted to be able to help others to achieve their goals. Maggie found the opportunity to do this as a Prince’s Trust volunteer.

During five years as a volunteer, Maggie finds it hard to pinpoint one particular highlight but narrows it down to watching her first client, a young photographer, progress to run their own business and teach others at a local college. Maggie's other highlights include completing a strenuous 45-mile Palace to Palace ride in aid of The Trust, seeing the achievements of young people who have re-engaged with school at the xl programme celebration days. Maggie has also organised a Black Tie Gala, together with a team of volunteers, to raise money for The Trust in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Above all, during her work with Prince's Trust young people, Maggie always enjoys:

the rewards of watching young people develop and grow.
