Workshop Volunteer

As a Workshop volunteer, you will work with Prince's Trust employees to deliver Enterprise Programme training to young people.

About the role

A Workshop Volunteer works in conjunction with employed staff of The Prince’s Trust to deliver Enterprise Programme training which offers unemployed 18 to 30-year-olds support to work out if their business ideas are viable. Over a four day course Workshop Volunteers would provide training in areas such as marketing, book-keeping and mentoring skills. The role gives volunteers the opportunity to:

  • Develop skills and knowledge relating to working with young people
  • Take on a new challenge and make a difference to young people’s lives

Anticipated role duration and time commitment

Commit to support The Prince’s Trust for 24 months or longer

Each workshop delivery will require 3-4 days of volunteer support per month minimum.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Attend induction and initial training course
  • Deliver structured sessions to groups of young people – involves explaining concepts, leading activities and facilitating discussions
  • Preparing materials and equipment for sessions and debriefing to staff as required
  • Ability to run sessions using an informal, facilitative, supportive, discussion based style is essential
  • Adapt the sessions according to the young people’s needs - goal setting, listening, problem solving, rapport and/or confidence building
