Progression Mentor
As a mentor you'll encourage and assist a
young person to plan and take steps towards achieving their
personal goals- helping them on towards employment, training or
education opportunities.
About the role
For The Prince’s Trust, mentoring is “The
provision of personal support, assistance, encouragement and
inspiration to young people during and following our programmes,
particularly at a time of transition and typically over a sustained
period of time.”
Progression Mentors provide mentoring support
to young people when they finish a Trust programme for a three to
six-month period. It is to help them move into employment,
training, education or volunteering and also make the most of the
opportunities whilst in employment. It is about guidance and
helping young people to find and translate information, understand
problems, identify solutions and implement action plans.
Anticipated role duration and time commitment
- Commit to support The Prince’s Trust for 24 months or
longer
- 3-6 month relationship with each young person depending on the
programme
- On average 2-4 hours per month per young person, although the
frequency of contact varies over the term of the engagement

You will receive full training and ongoing
support by The Trust for this role.

Volunteers working with young people aged
below 18 or with vulnerable adults are required to undergo and
satisfactorily obtain enhanced disclosure from the Criminal Records
Bureau (or equivalent in Scotland or Northern
Ireland).
